A celebration of beauty, Nectar is brimming with unique items from every continent, as well as nearby: Nectar has also always showcased the dynamic work of Hudson Valley artisans and jewelers among the bounty of our world neighbors. A rare blend of handmade and Fair Trade home décor, unusual art, imported furniture and architectural elements, children’s items, jewelry, tabletop wares, statuary, gifts, and tea, Nectar has something for everyone! Traditional pieces nestle beautifully with designs dreamed up or hand selected, utilizing reclaimed and recycled materials with little environmental impact. And many of our beautiful inspired items are sustainably sourced, supporting women’s cooperatives and community projects in developing countries around the world, tree-planting initiatives, AIDS research and sustainable development while raising awareness about international trade.

Born and raised in Manhattan in an artistic family who worked as stylists, painters, clothing designers, photographers & musicians, Jenny was coddled to create things of beauty from birth. After receiving a BA in Anthropology and French at NYU and helping to establish the TriBeCa landmark Bubby’s restaurant, Jenny moved to the Hudson Valley with her two sons in 2011. She bought an 1860s farmhouse and tackled renovations with the help of family, friends and determination. Having personally sourced building materials & design elements that worked harmoniously with the original structures of her home- bridging past & present- she acknowledged her passion for design. It was then, with her love of culture, travel, writing, service, beauty and caring for our world neighbors, that Nectar was born. It continues to effortlessly weave together those disparate parts of her. Between running a growing small business, interior decorating, and mothering her three sons, Jenny steals time to practice yoga, travel the world, enjoy nature and write.
resident fairy queen of customer service, happy maker
Once upon a time, Nectar received an unusual visitor- a blonde beauty with bright searching eyes & a compassionate heart. She was overflowing with curiosity, a seeker of new experiences, love and deep meaning. Nectar sparked something in her soul. The beauty in the store, the intention behind it, it’s ability to support companies that benefit her local & world neighbors, the women running Nectar and how they live… everything felt right. It was a family she had to be a part of. In-store Mary loves hearing stories from customers: where they came from and are going, and what brought them to Nectar. When she is not chatting it up or packing orders, she enjoys SINGINGGG, dancing, acting, and animals! She has also been involved with her family-owned funeral home since she was a wee one, went to CAP21 Professional Musical Theater Training Conservatory, toured with The Big Apple Circus, is a qualified interior firefighter, and the proud mama of her rescue dog Alex!

Shana grew up in Stony Point, NY with the Hudson River as her backyard. In 2006, she moved upstate to attend SUNY New Paltz where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts/ Printmaking. She eventually stumbled upon the beauty of Nectar and immediately knew she wanted to be a part of it. Nectar has motivated her to create positive changes within herself and has inspired her to make change on a greater scale. Growing up with a fondness for all things art and nature related, Shana is a lover of photography, the outdoors, and all animals great and small. She loves to hike and when she’s feeling creative she makes “punny” animal prints. She is also a unicycle riding extraordinaire!
